Update On Nate's Mom - A Letter From Dad

The surgeon called this afternoon and notified us that the latest test results came back similar to those of the original tests. Based upon this; Stella is now scheduled for surgery June 03, 2008 at 10:00 a.m. The surgery will last about three hours, so she should begin recuperating somewhere around 1:00 p.m. Earlier on the Doctor informed us that she can expect a seven to twelve day stay in the hospital. As you can imagine, Stella really doesn't want to stay one moment longer than she has too.

Because of our faith, the prayers and well wishes of so many others, offered on Stella's behalf, we are confident that this is right course of action. Though none of us are ever prepared for or understand things of this nature, we do know that they do happen. Our faith and hope is in tact and we know that God is at work in the midst of our lives.

It occurred to me that: Not all are healed by faith and prayer, not all are healed at the hands of a physician, not all are healed by medication. But some are. It all comes down to a matter of faith. It takes faith to take medication into our bodies without knowing how it really works or all that it does to our systems. It takes faith to allow a Doctor to perform surgeries on our bodies without knowing everything about the cause, effect or procedure, much less verifying the Dr.'s qualifications. Faith enables us to accept that there are more things that we don't understand than there are things we do, and still be ok living on this big green marble. Faith extends far beyond our ability to reason. It is intrinsic. Though we each possess it, few of us ever question why, and even fewer of us know why. For Stella and I, our faith remains in God, for today and all our tomorrows!

We are trusting God and ask that you do the same as we begin this next part of our journey with him.

Please begin to pray for the Doctors and staff. Pray also for all that we need to do in preparation of the day of the operation. Pray that Stella will have a quick recovery and that the mass they remove from her pancreas will be benign, and that she will not require additional treatment.
